Guidelines for success on your used truck purchase

A Toyota Tacoma against a backdrop of palm trees

Buying a used truck is no small feat. As such, here are a few guidelines that can help make your purchase worthwhile:

  1. Before purchasing your used truck, confirm the vehicle’s value using a free online source like Kelly Blue Book or Consumer Reports.
  2. Locate the truck’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Confirm the VIN’s equipment to make sure you understand the history of all parts repairs on the car. Having a history of repairs and refurbishments will tell you if any floods, salvages, or theft damage occurred on the vehicle. Possessing a record of repairs should give you a solid idea of the worth of the truck.
  3. Conduct a test drive of the truck before purchasing it.
  4. So long as steps one through three went off without a hitch, you should be well on your way to buying a quality used truck that’s in great condition.
