MASTER TECH POSITION SUMMARY
The Master Technician acts as an expert heavy diesel vehicle mechanic, mentor, and trainer and provides guidance to other shop technicians for diagnostic work, repairs, and procedures. The responsibilities of the Master Tech reaffirms our customers’ decision to trust Certified Fleet Services for all their repair and maintenance needs to ensure their safety every day while they are on the roads. The Master Tech position is an exempt position eligible to receive commission under Certified Fleet’s progressive flat rate system.
MASTER TECH PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
- Diagnosing and repairing vehicles accurately within a reasonable time frame and with a quality of work that exceeds customer expectations
- Assumes personal responsibility for all aspects of work quality, timeliness, and results
- Creating comprehensive work plans after thoroughly assessing problems
- Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines, all vehicle systems, including aftertreatment systems, electronics, and drivetrain and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
- Thoroughly inspecting all vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering, and exhaust systems
- Repairing or replacing all vehicle systems and components
- Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance
- Training members of the shop thoroughly in various vehicle maintenance and repair responsibilities
- Assist in development of key practices and policies

MASTER TECH EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- GED or High School Diploma required
- Completion of a formal diesel technician training program or equivalent level of dealership or manufacturer training required
- Dealership or Manufacturer Master Diesel Technician certification preferred
- Minimum 10 years of diesel vehicle repair experience required
- Current Valid Driver’s License required, CDL preferred
- Experience working with team members across multiple functional roles required
MASTER TECH PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing or walking
- Ability to work in enclosed environments exposed to excessive noise, automotive shop environment, and cold or heat
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
